Easy like Sunday Morning...

Sundays always have me feeling some type of way … and last Sunday was no different... *Que In Michael Buble’s Cover of “Feeling Good“*
I was super excited because I had a lunch date, and it was at a place I had never been to. I was most excited about the fact that I HAD FINALLY gotten a reservation. Getting a reservation at this place was stress. It took me 2 weeks and many phone calls … because they were always fully booked. So after a long wait, my favorite person and I, were finally going to try out an amazing boutique hotel in the peaceful suburbs of Langata called The One Forty Eight Boutique Hotel.

Easy like Sunday Morning...

When we reached our table and sat down, I looked around and loved what I saw. The place was absolutely beautiful and green, with cute little set ups for lunch. We were surrounded by lots of trees and nature…. I could clearly hear the birds, and bumble bees flying around. I could feel the light wind as it raced in between the trees. (not that this was my first time to hear birds chirp and sing, and feel the wind, it’s just that, with all the noise that surrounds us daily, we don’t get to stop and experience nature).
I love how private and secluded this place was. If 148 wanted to have more people, they could. Their garden definitely has more than enough space to fit 100 more little tables. I love the fact that they insist on keeping their numbers small, hence it doesn’t feel squeezed. It feels nice and airy…. So after enjoying my little moment with nature, we finally got our tables set up… and menus; so that we could order…
Please hold on to your seats because I promise this blog gets better. You have literally seen nothing at this point....

Hello Yummy-ness...

Before the food came through, we were served with some ice-cold drinks. Let's just say I love my drinks with mostly ice... The drinks came in these cute little glasses… Before I could finish sipping on my drink, we were served with a nice basket of warm, freshly baked bread. There was no unnecessary wait between meals (which is a big plus because no one likes to wait for yumminess). Our main course was delicious. It had me humming happy songs as I took each bite. It was AMAZING. I had rice and creamy (chicken with mushrooms). While the Mr. had a steak with wedges. It all tasted great (compliments to the chef)… The only thing I was not too jazzed about, was the quantity. For the price, I expected a little more on my plate.
After the meal, we felt the need to have some dessert (to fill the space we still had in our tummies). For dessert, I had the most delicious Creme Brulee. I love creme brulee… It’s hard on the outside, you tap tap tap with just the right amount of pressure until it cracks and reveals this delicious gooey interior. The Mr had a fantastic chocolate tart… which he absolutely enjoyed.

Staycation Anyone?

After lunch, our waitress was more than happy to show us around. One Forty Eight (148) has 3 different options for accommodation. The Main House, Apartments, and a Loft. The main house is this amazing wooden cabin. This cabin has a HUGE patio with the most comfortable chairs and a beautiful view of the garden. The House has 4 rooms; 3 doubles rooms, and one children’s room (which they call a loft), with 3 single beds. It has a pretty dining room, with a big dining table, and a very cozy sitting room (I hope the pictures I took will give you a good feel). THE DECO at 148 absolutely floored me. Their decor is very eclectic and vibrant. The place is filled with lot’s of art (it’s like walking into an art gallery).

These studio apartments (4,5,6) are nice and cozy (and small).
They are actually super cool.

Conclusion

My lunch at One Forty Eight was so amazing.
The ambiance was great, the food was amazing, and oooh and the decor 😍 .
I loved the fact that they focus more on quality instead of quantity…
They try to ensure that their customers have unforgettable experiences.

If you have plans on going here, please note, you have to call to make a reservation.
The place is really busy, so no reservation means no table.
This is not a “we were just in the neighborhood and decided to pop by” kind of place.
Don’t say you were not warned… ☺
