Coffee Cup at Tin Roof Cafe

To me, a cafe is a place where you go sit down, have a snack & drink, as you catch up on some reading, or some work.
Back when Java House was new, that was always my go to spot.
It was a calm quiet place and just perfect for my reading and writing.
Don’t get me wrong, I love Java, but these days, it is very noisy and full which makes it hard for me to concentrate on what I am reading or writing.
So I recently started looking for a new go to place. Guess what I found….. Karen’s best-kept secret.

What sold me about Tin Roof Cafe is the fact that it is not your ordinary cafe.
It is unique in every possible way. It’s an eclectic neighborhood cafe that is not trying hard to be modern.
It’s not trying to be a Java, or an Art Cafe; it’s just what it is.
To me, Tin roof is in a league of it’s own.

Tin roof also has very different decor.
It’s not your ordinary painting or photographs but you’re surrounded by mirrors and little posters that make you feel like you at home.

Their menu consists of an all day breakfast option, a creperie section with sweet and
savoury items and a few other delicious options which make it all the more difficult to make a choice.
The one thing in particular that blew me away about their food options was the simplicity of the
dishes that you generally do not find offered in other restaurants in Nairobi.

They have a little library where people can grab a book and sit and read.
What’s even better, it’s a book swap.
If you love to read (like me), you can drop a book and pick up a book… say goodbye to constantly buying new books. 🙂

Tin roof is a smart and fun cafe.  It also has a cooking school called La kuku.

I must say, I am absolutely in love with this place. I have found my new happy place 🙂
